SPORTS NUTRITION POWDER HANDLING
Why Materials Handling Matters in Sports Nutrition Manufacturing

Many small scale producers gain early success but then struggle to grow with their initial equipment and set up. Their products may be in high demand but they don’t have the capacity and in some cases, factory space to increase production.

Some sports nutrition manufacturers choose to outsource production to a contract manufacturing facility. This is one solution that might work well for some business, but those that want to keep production in-house should consider changes that will future proof the business.

One option is to start again in a bigger factory with a new powder handling system from the start or if space allows, add more equipment to a current system.

The best option is to design your initial facility with future growth in mind. Your system needs to be flexible enough for high demand and a large number of recipe variants, produced at speed without waste or downtime.

The optimum powder handling system uses IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Container). These are dust-tight, mobile containers that can be moved between the key powder processing stages (filling, mixing, packing and cleaning) considerably faster than any fixed mixer, saving hours of production time.
