OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT CHANGES AT MATCON

4th June 2008

In January of this year our Operations Director Peter Slee-Smith was headhunted for an opportunity to become a Managing Director with another firm who are involved in bulk solids handling equipment (such as ship unloading).   The opportunity was too good to miss and after much soul-searching Pete decided it was too good to pass up.  Reluctantly he advised us that he would need to leave us.

Of course we were very sorry to hear this news but fortunately we had time to work out a new plan for Operations management and moved Dave Cooper into the role from his previous position as Regional Sales Manager for UK.  Dave’s work ethic and exceptional management skills as well as a deep understanding of our Customer’s requirements made him a natural choice for this position.  For the last few months Dave has been getting up to speed on Pete’s range of responsibilities and gradually picking up the challenge of this very important job.

Effective immediately Dave Cooper will be fully responsible for Operations although we still have the benefit of having Pete till the end of August.   Pete will provide ongoing advice and support for Dave and the rest of the Board as required.

Dave’s title will continue to be Operations Manager but he will also be a “Director Designate”, reflecting our expectation that he will join the Board in the not too distant future.

We are delighted to be able to fill this important position through internal promotion.

We would like to wish Pete every success in his new venture and of course wish Dave every success and assistance in his new role in Matcon.
